  1. What is the difference in feel between the different Tempur-Pedic® beds ?

The OriginalBed by Tempur-Pedic™ mattress has a height of 8” and offers a nicely supportive firm feel. Inside the mattress there is one layer of base foam, and one layer of TEMPUR® foam. The TEMUR® Support Layer, along with the base foam layer, provide the extra support for the back.

  2. The SymphonyBed by Tempur-Pedic™
mattress also has a height of 8” and offers a slightly more cushioned feel. Inside the mattress there is one layer of base foam, and two layers of TEMPUR® foam. The top TEMPUR® Comfort Layer layer gives it a nice conforming feel on the top, and the second TEMUR® Support Layer, along with the base foam layer, provide the extra support for the back.

The ClassicBed by Tempur-Pedic™ mattress has a height of 9” and offers a more medium feel. Inside the mattress there is one layer of base foam, and two layers of TEMPUR® foam. The top TEMPUR® Comfort Layer layer gives it an even more conforming feel on the top, and the second TEMUR® Support Layer, along with the base foam layer, provide the extra support for the back.

The DeluxeBed by Tempur-Pedic® mattress has a height of 10” and offers more TEMPUR® material on top, and an additional base foam layer, this additional base foam layer creates the Dual AirFlow System™. The additional TEMPUR® material provides for enhanced conformability and a more responsive feel to the mattress. These additional amounts of foam make the Deluxe mattress feel noticeably plusher than the Classic.

The RhapsodyBed by Tempur-Pedic™ mattress has a height of 12" and uses TEMPUR-HD™ to create a luxurious feel that is different feel from the rest of the Tempur-Pedic® products, while offering the same pressure point relief and great back support. The top TEMPUR® Comfort Layer is of higher denisty formula and gives the sensation of being more on top of the mattress. The TEMPUR_HD™ is bonded to a TEMPUR Support Layer and the Dual AirFlow System™. The end result, is a surprisingly comfortable firm mattress.

The CelebrityBed by Tempur-Pedic™ offers a luxurious and soft feel on top, with all the support benefits below. The Celebrity Bed offers the most TEMPUR® foam - almost 5" (the TEMPUR® Support Layer is still 2.8" thick, but the TEMPUR® Comfort Layer is 2" thick and is in the pillow top layer of the mattress). The base foam thickness is also increased, while still using the Dual AirFlow System™. Overall, the Celebrity Bed is both the softest and most luxurious feeling of the Tempur-Pedic® mattresses.

The BellaSonna Bed by Tempur-Pedic™ combines TEMPUR® material with the exclusive T-Flex™Support System to create a breakthrough in sleep technology. This completely new sleep experience delivers the revolutionary pressure relief and comfort benefits that only Tempur-Pedic® can provide, while keeping some of the familiar feel of a traditional mattress.

The GrandBed by Tempur-Pedic™ takes comfort and luxury to new heights. Fall in love with the look and feel of this plush, blended silk cover quilted with the new TEMPUR-HD™. The reformulated, higher density version of the proprietary TEMPUR™ material provides unmatched pressure-relieving comfort and body-conforming suppor

  3. What is the difference between Tempur-Pedic® beds and other memory foam beds on the market?
Due to incredible popularity of the Tempur-Pedic® product, there has been a steady stream of manufactures introducing their version of a memory foam (Visco Elastic) mattress set. Many of these new products are using imported foam from China. Tempur-Pedic® manufactures their TEMPUR® foam in The United States. None of these imitation products has the unique melting, conforming feel of the Tempur-Pedic® mattresses.
One of the main reason that TEMPUR® material feels so unique, is that it is denser than most other Visco-elastic foams. The higher density provides for superior performance and durability. Other memory foam beds using less dense foam often feel "mushier" and feel like they are bottoming out when you lie on them. When other foam manufactures try to match the density of TEMPUR® foam they add fillers that will degrade the foam and create a stiffer feel than true TEMPUR® foam.
There is even more than the density at work here - no other memory foam has yet to capture the special way in which the TEMPUR® Comfort Layer reacts to your body's temperature, and conforms to your body. TEMPUR® material has been engineered to react to body temperature and weight through a very specific range of temperatures. This allows the TEMPUR® material to conform to your body's exact curves while providing the optimal balance between the comfort you desire and the support you need to experience deep, rejuvenating, and therapeutic sleep. Another key difference is the patented AirFlow System™ which helps add comfort and dissipate heat. With more than a decade of developing and testing TEMPUR® foam, the result is a foam unmatched in feel and comfort.

  4. What does temperature sensitive material mean and is it comfortable?
One of the most unique aspects of TEMPUR® foam is that it is temperature sensitive. This means that it will change a bit with the rooms temperature and humidity. The warmer or more humid the room the softer the TEMPUR® material. And TEMPUR® material will get noticeably firmer in rooms below 60 degrees.
This temperature sensitivity is also one of the primary reasons that Tempur-Pedic mattresses are so comfortable. The TEMPUR® material reacts to your body's heat and softens which allows the Comfort Layer to conform and shape itself to your body's unique curves.

  5. Is there a lot of motion transfer in a Tempur-Pedic® mattress?
TEMPUR® material dampens the motion of a person tossing or turning a good deal. You will not feel your partner moving around as much as you would on a regular spring mattress. It isn't as if you will not notice any motion- you will still get some transfer of movement through the mattress.

  6. Does the Tempur-Pedic® mattress sleep warmer than traditional mattresses?
A Tempur-Pedic® mattress will actually sleep cooler than many premium quality innerspring mattresses on the market. Most of these innerspring mattresses are using thick foam blocks around the perimeter of the mattress to create a better edge for sitting on the side of the bed. The down side to this is that no air can circulate through the mattress. The very cells that give TEMPUR® foam it's unique feel and responsiveness are open and breathable, so the material is self-ventilating. Traditional mattresses tend to use thick damask covers, which do not breathe as well as the soft allergen resistant covers that Tempur-Pedic uses. Combine these features with Tempur-Pedic's® patented AirFlow System™, and you get a mattress that sleeps great!

  7. Can I use a mattress pad or a waterproof cover on the Tempur-Pedic® mattress?
The cover that comes on many of the different models is designed to be removable and washable. On those products, mattress pads are not necessary. On the models where the cover can not be removed, a mattress pad could be useful.
If you need to protect the bed against spills or accidents, it is not recommend to put a full, zippered waterproof cover on the bed. Tempur-Pedic® has a wetsafe cover that can be used on the Classic and Deluxe models. A Mattress Protector is now being offered by Tempur-Pedic® . This Mattress Protector is waterproof, air permeable and prevents allergens from reaching the mattress while keeping you cool and comfortable.
